In this roundtable discussion, Professor Robert Park at the School of Life and Environmental Sciences, University of Sydney and Dr. Jarkko Tapani Salojarvi at the School of Biological Sciences, Nanyang Technological University together with experts at Novogene will be discussing the future, trends, advancements, and the impact of genomics applications on agriculture research.

Chris Looi, Ph.D
Technical Support Manager at Novogene AMEA (APAC, Middle-East & Africa)

Chris is currently the Technical Support Manager at Novogene AMEA. He received his Ph.D in plant biology from the National University of Singapore. He has extensive experience in research and lab management, having did his postdoctoral at the Nara Institute of Science and Technology, Japan, and Temasek Life Sciences Laboratory Ltd, Singapore.

Prof. Robert Park
Director of Cereal Rust Research at the School of Life and Environmental Sciences, Faculty of Science, University of Sydney

Winner of the Eureka Prize for Leadership in Innovation and Science (2020),  Professor Robert Park is a highly regarded plant pathologist who has successfully translated his scientific discoveries into real world application. His research has had a sustained global impact on the economic viability of cereal production and food security.

Dr. Jarkko Salojarvi
Lead PI/ Assistant Professor, Bioinformatics for Molecular Biology and Genomics at the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Singapore.

Dr. Jarkko's research focuses on using statistical modelling and combining different -omics tools to study population genomics and systems biology in tree species. A particular interest is the link between microevolution and macroevolution, and the impact toward forestry.


Lu Wang, M.Sc.
Senior Product Manager at Novogene AMEA (APAC, Middle-East & Africa)

Lu is the Senior Product Manager for Plants and Animals Sequencing at Novogene AMEA. She has five years of research and development experience at Novogene, revolving around plant and animal genome assembly and resequencing using long reads and short reads sequencing technologies. She also has a comprehensive understanding of the global sequencing market.
